The Strategy Execution by Design diagnostic is currently in development. It is designed for leaders who want execution to be by design, not by chance.

Assessing Your Strategy Execution Maturity
Most organisations don't fail at strategy. They fail at execution. Not because their people lack commitment, but because the conditions required for consistent execution were never deliberately designed. Strategy Execution by Design (SEBD) is a research-backed maturity assessment developed from original research with senior leaders. It examines seven interconnected levers that determine whether a strategy lands or quietly unravels and gives leadership teams a precise picture of where their execution breaks down and why. - Leadership and Trust - Strategic Clarity and Alignment - Execution Management System - Governance and Accountability - Execution Feasibility - Commitment and Engagement - Culture for Execution Each lever is assessed at the element and sub-indicator level, so the diagnostic doesn't just tell you there's a problem, it tells you exactly where it sits.
What makes the SEBD different?
Every lever is interpreted through a societal culture overlay. A governance structure that works in a low power distance culture may actively undermine accountability in a high power distance one. A commitment and engagement approach designed for an assertive, individually-oriented culture will land differently in a collectivist one. Leadership behaviours that signal trust in one cultural context can signal weakness in another. Your execution gaps are real. But understanding whether they're structural, behavioural, or culturally reinforced, and which levers to pull first given your specific operating environment, is what turns a diagnostic into a genuine roadmap.
A maturity assessment, not a survey
SEBD goes beyond a typical organisational survey. It assesses execution maturity across seven levers and thirty-five elements, generating a detailed picture of where your organisation sits: from Ad Hoc through to Optimised, and what it would take to move forward. Results are drawn from multiple perspectives: your executive team, your senior operational leaders, and your broader organisation. The gap between what leadership perceives and what the organisation actually experiences is often where the most important insights sit.
Contextualised for your culture
No two organisations execute in the same cultural environment. SEBD incorporates a societal culture overlay based on the GLOBE Project's nine cultural dimensions, the same research framework used to study leadership and culture across 62 societies worldwide. This means your results aren't interpreted against a generic benchmark. They're contextualised for the cultural environment your organisation actually operates in, including the dynamics that either support or quietly work against execution in your specific context.
