About Rebecca Reti

I'm Rebecca Reti, a strategy and execution consultant based in Brisbane, Australia. I work with CEOs, boards and executive teams across Australia and New Zealand on the conditions that determine whether a strategy actually gets delivered.

People often describe my approach as a blend of strategist, operator and coach. I help leaders step back from the noise, see the broader system around execution, and move forward with clearer priorities and greater confidence.

Why I focus on execution

With more than 20 years across strategy, transformation and change, I have seen how often well-considered strategies struggle to translate into consistent results. Organisations invest significant time and energy defining direction, yet somewhere between the boardroom and the frontline, momentum stalls.

In most cases the issue is not the ambition of the strategy. It is the environment around its execution.

That recurring pattern became a defining thread in my career, and it is why I work on the organisational conditions rather than the plan itself. Better plans are not the goal. Organisations that can execute with consistency and intent are.

The research behind the work

I explored that pattern formally through my Executive MBA at Massey University, researching strategy execution in large New Zealand firms. Senior leaders reported strategy execution effectiveness averaging 55.5%, which represents a significant amount of wasted energy, lost time and underperformance.

The research reinforced what I had seen in practice. Effective execution is not determined by how compelling a strategy is, but by the broader organisational conditions that shape how it is understood, prioritised, led and delivered. Those conditions became the seven levers of the Strategy Execution by Design Maturity model.

How I work with clients

I partner with CEOs and executive teams to reset strategic intent and strengthen their internal environment in a way that fits their context, building the clarity, alignment and discipline that strategy needs to deliver results.

That work usually takes one of four shapes: Strategic Planning, Operating Model, Execution and Leadership, supported by Training.

Board and governance experience

I am Secretary on the board of the Change Management Institute, and I chair its Finance, Risk and Audit Committee. Prior to this I held a Board Member and Chair role at Birkdale Intermediate School.

Governance work changes how you see execution. Sitting on the other side of the table, you watch decisions get made on the information that reaches the board, not the information the board needed. Chairing finance, risk and audit sharpens that further: you learn quickly how much of what an organisation calls delivery risk is actually a design problem somewhere upstream.

It also keeps me close to the change management profession rather than observing it from outside.

Outside work

Originally from New Zealand, I now live in Brisbane with my husband and two children. Outside work you will usually find me cooking (love to experiment with food, and entertain), watching the league (Go the Wahs!), enjoying the outdoors, camping, bushwalking, at the beach, or spending time with family and friends.
